Artist Statement — Traci Williams

My artwork is grounded in the belief that transformation begins long before it becomes visible. I paint the moment just before a person changes — when something inside them has already shifted, but the world hasn’t caught up yet.

Through layered florals, portraiture, and intuitive mark-making, I explore how quiet inner resolve turns into outward strength. These figures exist in a state of becoming — suspended between who they have been and who they are ready to become.

This philosophy reflects the mentality that has guided my own life — Believe You Can™ — a conviction built through action, persistence, and self-trust.

My work offers visual permission to rise, claim personal power, and live with intention.

Each piece meets you at a different moment of becoming. Some works are quiet. Some are confrontational. Some arrive after the decision has already been made. This body of work follows a Hero’s progression — not toward perfection, but toward self-trust. You don’t choose a piece because of who you are. You choose it because of who you’re becoming.
